GivingTree Detective: Lapsed, Engaged Donors [Video]

 

Welcome to the GivingTree Detective! In this video, I’m going to help you uncover great prospects that have been hiding in the depths of your database—all starting with the “Unassigned” search filter in GivingTree. Although these folks have slipped through the cracks because they’re not currently assigned, there’s a lot of potential you might be missing.

Today, we’re going to focus on a series of searches building off of the “Unassigned” filter. By the end, we’ll have a list of “Lapsed, Engaged Donors” that you can send along to your research team for a closer look.

Search #1: Unassigned, Rated Prospects

  1. Click on the “Donor Status” filter. In the drop-down, select “Yes” under “Unassigned.”
  2. Click on the “Capacity” filter and select “No” under “Unrated.”
  3. Add the search results to a list and share with your research team.

 

Search #2: Unassigned, Rated, Lapsed Donors

  1. Keep the filters from Search #1.
  2. Click on the “Giving History” filter. In the drop-down, select “is donor” and “last gift was not in past 5 years.”
  3. Sort the results by “Lifetime Giving” to reveal who has been most philanthropic to your institution.
  4. Add the results to a list and share with your research team.

 

Search #3: Unassigned, Rated, Lapsed, Engaged Donors

(Yep, I know it’s a mouthful…)

  1. Keep the filters from Searches #1 and #2.
  2. Click on the “Engagement” filter. In the drop-down, select “Yes” under “Engaged on Facebook?”
  3. Add the results to a list and share with your research team.
