On this episode of the RAISE podcast, Brent is joined by Nico Karagosian, CEO of the Ohio University Foundation. Ohio U is one of the oldest public institutions in the United States and now has one of the youngest foundation CEOs in the education sector.

Nico is just 18 months into his role at Ohio. He shares the leap of faith required to apply for the foundation CEO role and encourages everyone looking to grow in their career to know what they bring to the table. He believes the ability to know your passion and purpose are critical, and he is always asking candidates, “Why this job and why here?”

Nico leads with the belief that advancement doesn’t set the priorities for the university, they support the priorities of the president and of the colleges. This philosophy has helped unify internal teams and align the foundation on goals for the coming years. He believes his job as foundation CEO is to focus on how he’s advancing the university and making the lives of the students, faculty, alumni, and donors better everyday. About Nico

Nico Karagosian is the President & CEO of the Ohio University Foundation and the Vice President, Division of University Advancement. He brings more than 20 years of experience in fundraising, having previously served in a variety of leadership positions at the University of Cincinnati Foundation. Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Karagosian is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) who earned his MBA and MS in Health Administration from the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute. He earned his BA in English from Hobart College in Geneva, New York.
