Episode 15:
On this episode of the RAISE podcast, Brent Grinna sits down with John Feudo, Vice Chancellor of Advancement at UMass Lowell. John believes that advancement is more than a job that ends at 5 o’clock, or even a career. It’s a lifestyle that requires you to be fully invested in the goals of your institution. Over the course of his career, he’s been asked how he can work for a rival school’s alumni organization. His answer is simple — he believes in the mission and he believes in improving the lives of students and alumni.
He’ll share lessons learned from mentors and from experiences with major gift donors. According to John, you’re always nervous making the ask, but when you prepare, research and listen to your gut, you’re usually on the right track.
As far as famous donors, he’s met one of the biggest. Last year, UMass Lowell hosted Oprah Winfrey for their Chancellor Speaker Series. He had a chance to meet Oprah and he’ll share that story on the podcast. You don’t want to miss this episode.
